End the day at the JCA. Our After School and Teen Connection, formerly Study Central, programs are designed to nurture, encourage and stimulate your child’s interests through a variety of activities in a positive environment. The After School program is for kids in grades K – 5 while Teen Connection is for teens in grades 6 – 8.

In After School at the JCA children choose from challenging and varied activities, receive monitored homework and computer lab time, and experience the high-quality enrichment classes only available at the JCA.

Teen Connection is designed with quality and flexibility in mind for preteens and teens. The Teen Connection program supports socialization, independence and responsibility in a supervised environment after school. In addition, the JCA works with local professionals to offer optional enrichment opportunities in sports, fitness and the arts.

How do I sign my children up?

Will the JCA pick my child up from school?

Yes, transportation is available from select schools with minimum enrollment.

What do children do in After School and Teen Connection?

In our After School program, children choose what they are interested in doing. We have a wide range of activities for children, including a monitored homework room and computer lab. In Teen Connection, formerly Study Central, the JCA works with local professionals to offer optional enrichment opportunities in sports, fitness, and the arts.

Are snacks provided to children in After School and Study Central?

One kosher snack per child is provided daily. On Fridays, children are offered challah bread as we celebrate Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath. Additionally, all food served by the JCA is Kosher.

What is the counselor to student ratio?

We strive to maintain a ratio of 1:10 or better in all areas of our program.

Do you offer homework assistance?

Yes. The JCA is happy to offer After School participants access to our homework room which includes a quiet space, computer access, and a staff person who is available to answer questions and provide guidance. Private tutoring is offered for an additional fee.

Can I visit the After School Program at the JCA?

Yes! We would love to show you around! Please contact the Youth Services Office to schedule a time to tour before 2:00 pm.

Do you offer care when there is no school?

Yes. When school is out, every day is a J-CAtion at the JCA! J-CAtion Days are offered for an additional fee throughout the year. We typically follow Duval County Schools’ calendar.

Do you pick up on Early Release days?

No. Starting with the 2025-2026 school year, Duval County will not be holding early release days. We will NOT be offering any early release care.
