Youth Services Assistant Director

Full Time: Salaried; full-time; exempt

Department: Youth Services

Description: The responsibilities of the Youth Services Assistant Director will include program assistance, implementation and development as well as support of and assistance with all activities and programs for children in kindergarten through high school that occur during the year. Including, but not limited to, after school care, winter, spring and summer camp, enrichment classes, JCAtion Days when schools are closed, social activities, some sports programs, functions related to ad hoc committees, and assorted JCA agency wide programs. The Assistant Director is also responsible for providing supervision and the leadership necessary to ensure the efficiency and success of the department. Work will require evenings and weekends as programs dictate.


Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write reports and compose correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with groups of customers or employees of the JCA. Ability to compose, write and edit flyers, newsletters, ad copy, letters, and other communications. Ability to use proper grammar, punctuation, and proof-reading skills.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. This function requires the abilities to calculate, compare, diagnose, estimate and verify.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities: Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable law.  Responsibilities may include interviewing, recommending hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance/rewarding and disciplining employees (in the absence of the Youth Services Director); addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ability to work with computer software program:  Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiar with copiers, fax machines, and calculators.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is also required to stand and move throughout the building and on trips off-site. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and might occasionally need to lift young children to aid staff in the event of an emergency.

Payroll/HR Benefits Coordinator

Full Time: Full benefits package including health and dental insurance, HSA, 401(k) and PTO.

Department: HR

Description: The Payroll and HR/Benefits Specialist position is responsible for the hands-on processing of all in house payroll, from the verification of timecard accuracy to the creation of employee payroll checks. The position is also responsible for employee personnel files, maintenance of PTO/holiday plans and administration of all employee benefits. The position has growth potential as payroll processes are streamlined and the HR role expands.

Qualifications: Must be knowledgeable of and comply with all relevant State and Federal laws. Experience in bookkeeping and accounts payable is a plus.

Swim Instructor/Coach

Part Time- Potential to earn up to $24 an hour with group and private lessons.

Department: Aquatics

Description:  Instructor/Coach needed to work with kids and adults. Will work with beginners to more advanced swimmers in our two pools. Flexible hours during daytime and evening available.

Qualifications: American Red Cross Certified Swim Instructor. Minimum 1 year experience.

Part Time

Department: Aquatics

Description: Guard responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring safety and responding to emergency situations within training scope, swim testing, chemical testing, basic cleaning, reporting to aquatics managers.

Qualifications: American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified and willing to undergo a background check.
