Magic Wardrobe

Each year, more than 25,000 kids from across Duval, Clay and St. Johns counties experience theatre at the JCA. We are proud to be home to the Magic Wardrobe Theatre; an educational theatre program that incorporates school curricula and life skills lessons in an interactive stage format.

Overview

The Magic Wardrobe Theatre program uses professional actors and original shows to create interactive and engaging programming for children, making this high-quality show second only to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens as a field trip destination for students throughout Northeast Florida.

Magic Wardrobe shows change monthly and are based on classic stories and traditions. With music, dance and audience engagement, our theatre programs encourage children to dance, sing and play along with the story on stage.

While the program was originally designed for students in grades pre-K – 2, our Theatre Director Shelly Hughes expanded the programming for children in grades 3 – 5. Thanks to the generosity of VyStar Credit Union, thousands of students from low-income schools are able to go on field trips, and many experience live theatre for the very first time.
