Dustin Rulien began his career at the JCA in 2010 as a lifeguard. Since, Dustin has held many positions in our Aquatics department, which has allowed him to serve as a coach and mentor to hundreds of young athletes. 

With more than a decade of experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor, flag football coach, basketball coach, summer camp director and so much more, Dustin says working with children is extremely rewarding, especially when he sees them advance in the water.  Dustin holds several certifications in his field including, Aquatic Facility Operator from the National Recreation and Park Association, as well as Lifeguard Instructor, CPR/First Aid Instructor, Wilderness and Remote First Aid Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, and Lifeguard from the American Red Cross. 

When he’s not busy working with swimmers at our pools, Dustin says he likes to be as far away from cell phone service as possible. Dustin enjoys camping, building and fixing, and learning about anything and everything. Dustin and his wife Nicole also love spending time with their dog and two cats.
