Dr. John Dolittle lives in his lush manor in 19th-century England. His main source of companionship comes from an array of exotic animals that he speaks to daily. When Queen Victoria becomes gravely ill, the eccentric doctor and his furry friends, along with a few human companions, embark on an epic adventure to a mythical island to find an incredibly rare flower whose nectar is the only known cure.
