We are proud to announce that Kerstin Teutonico, a longtime early childhood educator in our Michele Block Gan Yeladim Preschool & Kindergarten was recently named Preschool Educator of the Year by the Florida Association for the Education of Young Children (FLAEYC).
With more than 30 years of experience in early childhood education, Kerstin is recognized for her deep understanding of young learners and her intentional, thoughtful approach to teaching. Her classroom reflects a balance of structure and creativity, where every detail of the environment invites curiosity, exploration, and growth.

“She holds high expectations for herself and her students, and she meets both with warmth, insight, and grace,” said our Director of Early Childhood Natalia Fisher, who nominated Kerstin for the award. “Her wisdom and intentionality shine through in everything Kerstin does.”
Presented in partnership with The Children’s Movement of Florida, the FLAEYC Educator of the Year Awards celebrate outstanding early childhood educators whose work exemplifies excellence, passion, and impact in shaping the lives of Florida’s youngest learners and strengthen communities statewide.
This recognition not only celebrates Kerstin’s remarkable career but also shines a light on the power of early childhood education at the Jewish Community Alliance, where every teacher helps children build curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Her honor reflects the passion and excellence that defines the JCA’s commitment to our youngest learners and their families.
