Overview

HaBonim provides an experience tailor-made for your unique child. Campers and their parents select specialty activities for each session, and the rest is up to us. Onsite specialties take place in the Jacksonville Jewish Center’s (JJC) state of the art facility while offsite specialties allow campers to experience all that Jacksonville has to offer in a safe, supervised capacity with transportation provided. All specialties utilize industry professionals to design a curriculum that ensures your camper receives instruction that is age-specific. Specialty activities take place each morning, Monday through Thursday.

We strive to provide an environment of fun and friendship. Within our programs, groups are designed to meet both each camper’s needs as an individual and the needs of the program. Placement may be based on age or grade, specific specialty or other factors. Friendship requests are requests only, must be reciprocal, and written on registration forms by May 2.

Campers bring a dairy lunch and swimsuit daily. Snack provided daily.

Upon applying, you will receive an email to make your specialty selections. Some specialties fill quickly, so advance registration is strongly recommended.

Session 1 | 6/10 – 6/21

All Wet Sports (offsite)
Paddle upstream on this water adventure! Campers will kayak and paddle board offsite with All Wet Sports. (Additional $250 charge)
Food for Thought
Embark on a culinary journey that teaches campers fundamental cooking skills and gives them the confidence to chef up a wide array of dishes! Campers will learn various techniques, experiment with diverse cuisines, and experience the joy of creating delicious meals. (Additional $50 charge)
Painting Pizzazz
Discover the joy of painting in Painting Pizzazz! This specialty includes landscapes, abstracts, portraits and more. Receive professional instruction in a fun, no pressure atmosphere. (Additional $75 charge)
Pokémon Trainer
Welcome trainers! Join us as we learn about Pokémon and the ins and outs of Pokémon trading. Campers will work to design their own Pokémon, digitally create their own Pokémon cards, and battle friends in this classic card game. Friendly battles, exciting tournaments, and advanced gameplay strategies await! One beginner deck provided per camper.
Soccer
Kick off an unforgettable soccer experience and elevate your skills and passion! Our program focuses on key techniques like dribbling, passing, scoring and team building.
Tennis (offsite)
Perfect for beginner and intermediate players, this specialty is led by experienced instructors, and focuses on basic strokes and shots. From forehands to serves, each day brings dynamic skill-building activities. The bus departs for the JCA at 9 am each day.

Session 2 | 6/24 – 7/2

Through hands-on experiments, future scientists and engineers will explore the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Children will discover the exciting possibilities that science offers us. Activities include slime making, rock candy, solar ovens, invisible ink, rockets, magic sand and homemade bouncy balls.
Adventure Landing (offsite)
This offsite specialty brings campers to Adventure Landing. Each morning campers will explore the water park, play laser tag, mini-golf, go-kart, and so much more! (Additional $140 charge)
*NEW* Cheer Champs
Step into a summer of vibrant rhythm, confidence and spirit! Our new specialty is designed to enhance strength and flexibility, while mastering dynamic cheer routines. Your cheerleader will leave energized and poised to showcase their newfound skills!
Flag Football
Score big in this flag football specialty! Each action-packed day on the field will help campers learn rules, positions, basic techniques and team building skills.
Golf (offsite)
Tee off into the world of golf at the UNF Golf Plex! Experienced instructors provide campers with fun, educational lessons at all skill levels. (Additional $200 charge)
Mixed Media: Places Near and Far!
Under the guidance of professional instructors, enjoy a fun and pressure-free atmosphere exploring diverse art mediums. Projects will include painting, drawing and even 3-D elements all inspired by the world around us! (Additional $75 charge)

Session 3 | 7/8 – 7/19

Basketball
Elevate your game this summer! Perfect for aspiring athletes, this program focuses on honing fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting, while fostering teamwork and sportsmanship.
Chopped!
Ready, set, cook! Enthusiastic, aspiring you chefs will put their cooking skills to the test in this culinary gauntlet that challenges competitors to make a dish using a mystery box of ingredients. Taste, creativity and boldness will be rewarded. (Additional $50 charge)
Horseback (offsite)
This specialty is perfect for any horse-lover. Campers will venture offsite for horseback instruction at Windemere Equestrian Center. Each day focuses on riding and essential horse care skills from expert instructors. (Additional $295 charge)
LEGO Lab
Dive into the creative realm of LEGO building where campers construct spaces, places and people. This dynamic specialty encourages imagination and collaboration using LEGO bricks and supporting materials.
Mixed Media: Nature’s Many Wonders
This artistic adventure will include painting, drawing, collages and 3D dimensional art. All projects will be inspired by the wonders of nature. Instruction is guided by professional artists who will help your child cultivate their creativity. (Additional $75 charge)
Strategic Gaming
This specialty will teach campers the intricacies of game logic and strengthen their strategic thinking with a wide array of gaming genres. Explore board games, video games, new games, old games, and everything in between. Each day is enhanced with structured movement sessions, ensuring a balanced and engaging experience.

Session 4 | 7/22 – 8/2

Archery
Campers will learn key archery concepts, mastering vital skills such as range safety, proper handling of equipment, techniques for aiming and shooting, and showing respect for your fellow archers. This comprehensive specialty empowers campers to learn skills beyond merely hitting the bullseye.
*NEW* Bakers Dozens
Calling all aspiring bakers and pastry enthusiasts! This specialty will help you master the art of exquisite treats, one batch at a time. Open to novices and seasoned bakers alike, get ready to roll up your sleeves, dust off your aprons, and create dozens of sweet and savory treats, including cookies, cupcakes, pies and more! (Additional $50 charge)
Ice Skating (offsite)
Escape the summer heat and skate onto the ice in this offsite specialty. At Community First Igloo, campers will twirl, spin and glide under the instruction of a professional. (Additional $160 charge)
*NEW* Maccabi Sports Camp
Embark on an exciting journey with our new specialty – Maccabi Sports Camp, based on the JCC Maccabi Youth Games, an Olympic-style event for Jewish youth and teens. This specialized camp places a strong emphasis on agility, sportsmanship and hand-eye coordination. Each day focuses on a specific sport, ranging from ultimate frisbee, flag football and soccer to tennis and volleyball.
Shark Tank
Dive into this fin-tastic journey as young entrepreneurs take their budding business skills to the next level. This Shark Tank themed specialty empowers kids to develop creative ideas, make a pitch, and brand their own products.
Through the Lens
Calling all content creators! From crafting skits and commercials to engaging commentaries, this specialty will unlock the secrets of visual storytelling.
