A lifelong member of the Jewish Community Centers of North America, Daniela Mickey joined the JCA family as our Sports & Recreation Director in 2023. Daniela grew up at the JCC in Mexico City participating in the Israeli dance program, soccer, tennis and gymnastics. Daniela says one of her favorite memories from childhood is being at J and walking the halls with her dad – who always knew everyone. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, as a teenager, Daniela began her career as a camp counselor at the Levine JCC, working every summer throughout high school and college.

Daniela’s career then brought her to San Diego, California, where she taught art and science, and became a certified yoga instructor. Daniela then moved back to Charlotte in 2015 to work at the JCC where she rekindled her love of sports as the Sports and Fitness Coordinator. 

Married to her husband, Jonathan since 2018, Daniela and her family relocated to Fernandina Beach in 2020 and then moved to Jacksonville in 2022. When Daniela is not enjoying our JCA with her husband and daughters, Cora and Margot, she can be found cooking, practicing yoga, weightlifting, crafting and hanging with her 15-year-old “street terrier” named Flapjack.

Daniela is proud to be part of our JCA family and is looking forward to getting stopped in the halls for a chat as she gets to know the families in our community.
