Every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 to 11:45 am, the JCA Theatre Department offers Zoe Zone, an interactive class for children that streams live on Facebook. This program is based on the JCA’s most popular children’s class, Zoe’s Clubhouse, which takes your little one on a new adventure each week.
The first installment of the Zoe Zone has already had more than 700 views in the first 24-hours and features Zoe (Shelly Higgins Hughes) and her partner in crime Riley on an adventure to find the doctor Seuss characters who jumped off the page of her storybook. Children joined Zoe on this adventure, which included dancing the hokey pokey and making a Seuss-nocular art project (supply list was posted on the JCA Theatre Page in advance so parents could prepare). The interactive programming can be enjoyed by children of all ages and provides much needed virtual interaction for children whose parents are working from home.
“My kids live for their visits to the Zoe Zone twice a week. Doing this is giving them a little bit of normalcy in their days at home. Zoe calls out the names of the kids watching, and hearing the names of friends or seeing photos or videos of them watching at home, in a way, it gives a sense of community that we are craving right now,” says one parent.
On the days without Zoe Zone, kids can tune in to a story from Ms. Sneetcher, the substitute teacher, who dramatically reads a different story each time using Facebook live. You can catch Ms. Sneetcher on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10 am.
