One of the most righteous forms of charity in the Jewish faith, according to Maimonides, is anonymous giving. In 1995, three JCA donors anonymously established the Jewish Community Alliance Endowment Fund at The Community Foundation of Northeast Florida. This fund was created to support the JCA’s general operating expenses without restriction and would generate a distribution annually in support of the JCA.
This year, as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the JCA was forced to close its doors and was left with an incapacitated revenue stream. Although the building was closed, normal operating expenses remained. During this time of economic hardship, the JCA received its distribution from The Community Foundation of Northeast Florida’s JCA Endowment Fund. This significant support established 25 years ago, meaningfully impacted the agency’s ability to continue to operate and ensured that the JCA’s doors could eventually re-open. These donors had the foresight to establish an unrestricted fund that would support the JCA in perpetuity without financial constraint.
During this time of uncertainty, this endowment fund has been critical to JCA operations and will continue to secure the JCA’s future, creating a strong and vibrant JCA and Jacksonville Jewish community for future generations — L’dor V’dor.
We are so grateful to these unsung heroes and their families. Thank you for leaving this legacy to sustain the Jewish Community Alliance. Your support will improve the lives of countless individuals in our community who need JCA services now more than ever.
