NOTICE: Due to concerns over COVID-19, we will no longer be holding JCA Summer Camp. However, we are offering a child care program, J Days of Summer, to replace our previous programming. Times for this program will remain the same as the previous camp schedule. For specific information concerning changes to your child’s camp group, please see below.

Child care is open to all children regardless of race, religious affiliation or ethnic origin.

J Days of Summer

Ages 2 – 6

Age 2 by Sep 1, 2020

Our youngest children thrive in our safe, engaging and fully accredited program! Campers enjoy low adult to child ratios and experience a wide range of age-appropriate activities, including daily water play, music, movement, cooking, art experiences, discovery opportunities and more, under the care of experienced and nurturing counselors. Children registered for the 2020-21 Preschool/12-Month program have priority in registration. Morning snack provided daily (peanut and tree nut free). All campers staying past 12 pm take a nap.

 

Ages 3 to 4 by Sep 1, 2020

Young children flourish in our safe, fun and fully accredited program! Campers experience a wide range of themed activities involving science, art, American Red Cross water safety swim instruction (for potty trained campers), music, sports, gardening, cooking and more under the care of experienced and nurturing counselors. Morning snack provided daily (peanut and tree nut free). All K’Ton campers staying past12 pm take a nap. Napping in Tovim is optional.

 

Entering Kindergarten by Sep 1, 2020

KinderCamp helps campers make the transition from preschool to kindergarten with ease and enthusiasm! Our mature, caring and experienced counselors guide your child toward independence and school readiness with the same high quality programming you have come to know and expect from Camp Gan Yeladim.

Campers participate in a wide range of activities, including art, science, daily American Red Cross water safety swim instruction, free swim, PE in the gym, age-specific sports, outdoor play in our playgrounds and gardens, music, cooking and more. Morning snack provided daily (peanut and tree nut free).

J Days of Summer

Grades 1 – 2

Entering Grades 1 to 3 by Sep 1, 2020

  • NEW LOCATION! Entering 1 – 3 graders will be spending their summer with us at The Temple.
    • NOTE: Other branches of the J Days of Summer will be operating in different locations.
  • ABOUT OUR SUMMER HOME: Congregation Ahavath Chesed (“the Temple”) includes a playground, field, nature area, classrooms, indoor multipurpose room and a courtyard with playground.
    • Address: 8727 San Jose Boulevard Jacksonville, FL 32217
  • A FUN, BUT SAFE EXPERIENCE:
    • We will have weekly themes, such as Harry Potter, tropical paradise, animals, sports and western. Our craft projects and Friday dress up days will be based on each week’s theme.
    • Each group will participate in a variety of activities including arts and crafts, STEM, games, virtual programs, sports, songs, Shabbat and so much more as we utilize the beautiful facility less than a quarter of a mile from the JCA!
    • We will be taking our private buses to the JCA for swim twice a week. We will let you know which days your child will be swimming prior to the start of J Days of Summer.
    • The JCA will not be providing daily lunches this summer. All campers must bring their own dairy lunches (NO MEAT PRODUCTS) from home each day.
      • Campers will be required to bring their own refillable water bottle each day.
      • The JCA will provide individually packaged snacks to all children each morning.  If your child is a picky eater or has an allergy, please plan to send a snack.
  • ROSTER AND FRIEND REQUESTS: Exact cabin group assignments will be distributed the week before J Days of Summer begins at the Temple on June 8th.
    • IMPORTANT: Since the cabin sizes will be smaller this summer, we are allowing parents to make friend requests. If you are making requests, please do your best to ask for friends in a similar age group. While we will do our best to honor all requests, nothing is 100% guaranteed.

  • ALL SPECIALTIES HAVE BEEN CANCELED. Although it is not “Habonim” this summer, our J Days of Summer is still going to be filled with sports, art, fishing, swim time and so much more!
  • ROSTER AND FRIEND REQUESTS: IMPORTANT: Since the cabin sizes will be smaller this summer, we are allowing parents to make friend requests. Creative Arts J Days of Summer

Grades 1 – 9

Entering Grades 1 to 9 by Sep 1, 2020

Although it’s not “Stagedoor Theatre Camp” this summer, our Creative Arts J Days of Summer is still going to be filled with music, dance, acting games, art and so much more.  As always, we will have some of the top local musical theatre professionals on campus to work with your child.

LIVE SHOW: Due to physical distancing regulations, we will not be able to produce a live stage show for you to attend. Instead, we will set up a ZOOM call the last week of the session so you can see your young artist perform onstage. We will also video our show and you will receive a DVD so you can enjoy your child’s performance for years to come!

SWIM: We will swim twice a week and have “water play” every day, so be sure to pack your camper’s swimsuit, goggles, towel and SUNSCREEN! We will also have an “inside option” everyday for the campers who choose not to swim.

NEW THIS YEAR:All campers must BRING THEIR OWN DAIRY LUNCH! We cannot microwave lunches, and we do not have refrigerator space for lunches. Please plan your child’s lunches accordingly.

J Days of Summer

Entering Grades 7 to 9 by Sep 1, 2020

  • NEW LOCATION! J Days of Summer home base will be located at the Jacksonville Jewish Center. This is where all children will be dropped off and picked up each day.
  • ABOUT OUR SUMMER HOME: The Jacksonville Jewish Center sits on 15+ acres of land with access to a ton of fun activities. The facility includes onsite tennis courts, playground, outdoor track, basketball courts (indoor and outdoor), pool, beautiful outdoor scenery, classrooms and much more!

  • A FUN, BUT SAFE EXPERIENCE: J Days of Summer will take into account recommendations from government and health organizations in order to provide the safest experience possible for your child. Please see attached for the procedures we will be implementing this summer. Included below are a few camp specific measurements we have taken as well.
    • Off-site field trips will be limited to two times a week. Each week, we have identified two safe and controlled off-site field trips your child will take. For the remaining three days of the week, they will be on-site at the Center for a day full of fun activities such as sports, art, swimming, fishing and much more. Trip information will be distributed.
      • COOKING AND SURFING: If you are in the cooking or surfing specialty, you will be off-site every day. Follow up information on each individual session will be emailed prior to the start date.
  • SWIM: The Jacksonville Jewish Center has a wonderful pool onsite so there will still be a swim option this summer. A swim schedule will be distributed.

JAX Cooking Studio
Partnership with Jax Cooking Studio on Beach Blvd. Classically trained chefs teach campers to cook with healthy, local ingredients, practice kitchen safety, engage in teamwork, exercise creativity and more! The focus is on Italian cuisine. ($75 add’l charge)

Surf into Summer
Partnership with Surf into Summer Surf Camp, the First Coast’s longest running surf camp, that emphasizes ocean awareness, surfing techniques, surf etiquette and proper equipment and wave selection. All levels of instruction; no experience necessary. ($50 add’l charge)

Pre and Post J Days of Summer

Grades K – 9

Entering Grades K to 8 by Sep 1, 2019

We have so much fun planned for these five days of summer! We have a variety of activities scheduled including cooking, adventure sketches (for the younger groups), Amazing Race challenges (for the older groups), art projects, gym games, obstacle course challenges, lego builds and so much more.  All these activities have been carefully planned to adhere to the physical distancing regulations set forth by our local and national gov’t. and the CDC.

SWIM: We will swim and have “water play” every day, so be sure to pack your camper’s swimsuit, goggles, towel and SUNSCREEN! We will also have an “inside option” everyday for the campers who choose not to swim.
