Our curriculum is based upon a unique variety of approaches. All activities and experiences are developmentally based and draw from the best practices of NAEYC, Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Creative Curriculum, Sheva, Growing Up Wild and more. Experiences are play based and all hands-on. Children learn by doing! Each student reaches their potential in scientific discovery, problem solving and critical thinking in a physically and emotionally safe, nurturing environment. Children are intentionally guided as they explore, learn, and document using the project approach.  They are seen as constructivist learners where learning is experiential and constructed with them. Children are capable and competent and achieve success.

We provide children with experiences that foster growth across a broad range of developmental and content areas. The daily schedule is planned intentionally to maximize children’s learning through effective use of time, materials, self-initiated learning, creative expression, one–on-one instruction, and small and large group activities. Children are offered opportunities to learn according to their developmental needs and interests in a play based setting.

– Yoga instruction by a certified teacher

– Live professional theatre

– A full gymnasium and professional physical education instruction

– The Michele Block Gan Yeladim Library, which holds over 7,000 volumes of hardcover books

– Innovative playgrounds

Growing Up Wild

Growing Up WILD is an early childhood education program that builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore wildlife and the world around them.  Through a wide range of activities and experiences, Growing Up WILD provides an early foundation for developing positive impressions about the natural world and lifelong social and academic skills. Growing Up WILD is a multi-award winning program having received the 2009 Family Choice Award and the 2011 Renewable Natural Resource Foundation Excellence in Journalism Award.

The Creative Curriculum®

The Creative Curriculum® is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning. Children gain confidence, increase creativity, and develop critical thinking skills. Teachers guide constructive, purposeful play to promote knowledge and learning.

Sheva

The uniqueness of our developmentally appropriate curriculum stimulates and encourages character development through Judaic programming. Guided through a Jewish lens, we utilize a framework called Sheva, which encompasses seven principles for learning.

The children experience Jewish values such as taking care of the world (recycling and reusing), taking care of the earth (gardening), taking care of the animals (chick hatching and classroom pets), and doing good deeds (collecting tzedakah money for charity). Discover CATCH is the Judaic and physical education curricular component that reinforces daily healthy eating and physical activity.

Kaymbu / Technology Integration

Our school supports the use of innovative technology in the school environment.  We demonstrate the best developmentally appropriate practices, strengthen connections between home and community and enhance documentation methodology. Teachers use the Kaymbu app on iPads to efficiently capture classroom activities for internal documentation and secure sharing with families.
