On Thursday, August 29, 2019, the Jewish Community Alliance along with the Jewish Federation of Jacksonville Federation and all partner agencies and synagogues partnered with the FBI, Department of Justice, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Department of Homeland Security, UF Health Hospital and US Attorney for the Middle District of Florida for the Northeast Florida Jewish Community Security Table-Top Exercise at the JCA. The purpose of this exercise was to:
- Help enhance preparedness in the case of a terrorist attack on a Jewish organization
- Increase awareness of law enforcement procedure and response
- Establish best practices for community-law enforcement cooperation in preparation for andresponse to threats
Led by a representative from the Jacksonville FBI office and with the aid of a fact-based scenario, representatives from each branch of local law enforcement explained their individual responses to terrorist attacks and reinforced community expectations. Participants were able to get their most pressing questions answered and gain valuable information on improving preparedness in the event of such an occurrence.
“We are extremely grateful for the continued cooperation of all our law enforcement partners and really appreciate the seriousness in which they took today’s exercise to help ensure we are all better prepared to prevent and handle an attack,” says JCA CEO Adam Chaskin.
